I had the singer straightforward, which broke down soon after only 2 years. I bought this machine for the reason that I was seeking for a sewing machine that was quicker hopefully far better produced. I stuck with the Singer brand because I have a lot of accessories didn't want to decide to buy everything all over again. I have to say this machine is extremely quick (compared to the Basic) and quiet. I love seeing the bottom bobbin so I know when I need to respool. Threading the machine is the identical on the leading thread, but the bottom is unique. It is basically less difficult. There are far more thread sewing patterns than the Very simple. It also has a nice function on the best where the top rated spool can be applied in a vertical position, rather of constantly horizontal. I like to zero cost-hand quilt, and it is just a dream. If you dont' want to invest a ton of $$ on a sewing machine, I would very advise this machine. For the value, it is just excellent! I just hope it lasts longer than my Simple :)
I am an entry level sewer so I required a machine that was dependable and could sew via a couple of layers of thick fabric. I found this machine at a wonderful value and decided to go for it. I have not owned any other machines but I can say that this a single did mostly every thing i needed it too. However, I was performing a project with a 1/four" layer of extremely light open cell foam, and as i was mid-sew the machine produced a couple knocking sounds as was stated in the previous evaluation. I rethreaded the machine, produced some minor adjustments, and completed what I was sewing. I do not assume I would attempt to sew something excessivly thick once more, but lukily that dosent impact my utilizing this machine. general, i like it and am happy with my acquire. I know that singer is a trusted compnay, that has been around for countless years as nicely.
