I did not want to invest too a lot on an embroidery machine prior to recognizing if it would be a thing that would get a lot of use. While I don't have a dedicated sewing room I opted against getting a combo embroidery/sewing machine given that I already had a regular machine. I spent nearly a year researching machines and the significant promoting point besides cost was that it takes a thumb drive. It was seriously hassle-free to get started with no having to study the manual too extensively. I hate something with a steep mastering curve simply because I have highly little time to sew. I do not want to spend my valuable time reading the manual. I had been searching at Babylocks, but regardless of what the Babylock sales person said, the Brother machines appear identical and a lot less overpriced. I don't have time to take classes (an benefit of getting from a dealer) so I went for the less costly Brother. Also, Babylock does not sell this model as a stand alone embroidery machine. The PE770 is the exact same as the BL Ellure Plus with out the sewing machine. The set up is truly quick and I promptly started stitching out some of the preloaded styles. The stitch top quality is superb. The preloaded styles are dominated by the "cutsie" stuff that isn't genuinely my cup of tea. Who desires a garment with a teddy bear playing accordion on a tree stump? I downloaded some cool designs from a web-site and put them on the thumb drive. It was quite simple and easy to transfer them to the machine and sew them even even though we do not personal a Pc. My husband found a system for Macs so I was in a position to see the image and the color chart on the Mac. If I end up using it a lot I may at some point give some thought to a fancier machine but I consider I produced a wonderful option for a beginner. The automatic threader is outstanding! The seller (Ken's through Amazon) sent some specifics about completely different types of stabilizer that was quite beneficial. I just wish I had extra time to play with this fun machine.
I really like it - this was my Christmas present from me to me (my husband does not have an understanding of this stuff). I also have a Brother SE350 (4x4 field), this PE770 is an add-on and upgrade with the 5x7 field. The only drawback is the black white screen, but I continually run my patterns via computer software which has a color stitchout so that really is not a problem. It is exceptionally user friendly and I am glad I got it. Would most certainly advise it. Be confident to order some size "M" pre-wound bobbins, this machine takes the larger ones - but the acquire is properly worth it.
